Dika.</p>
<p>Budući da su Dikova rana dela izvorno objavljivana u takozvanom <em>pejperbeku</em>, odlučeno je da ova nagrada pripadne najboljem Sci Fi romanu koji se tokom prethodne sezone prvobitno pojavio u džepnom izdanju.</p>

<p><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br />
Nastalo iz četiri godina starije <strong>Britanske nagrade za fantastiku</strong>, ovo priznanje dodeljuje se od 1969. pod okriljem <em>Britanskog udruženja za naučnu fantastiku</em> (<strong>BSFA</strong>). </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">U početku je njime nagrađivana najbolja SF knjiga sezone, ali je od 1979. broj kategorija povećan na četiri, obuhvativši još kratko prozno delo, medijsko delo i ilustratora.<br />
U prvo vreme pravo konkurisanja imala su samo dela britanskih autora objavljena na Ostrvu, da bi kasnije prorpozicije dozvolile učešće svih SF naslova izvorno pubiikovanih na engleskom jeziku.<br />
Način odlučivanja o ovoj nagradi bio je raznolik, a žiriji su se sastojali kako od laičkih poklonika, tako i od uskog kruga stručnjaka.<br />
Organizacija dodele ove nagrade nije uvek bila na visini, odnosno dogadalo se da se jedne godine uruče povelje za dve tri prethodne sezone. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Uglavnom nevelikog publiciteta i skromnog značaja, <strong>Britanska nagrada za naučnu fantastiku</strong> nije mogla da ugrozi prvenstvo vodećih američkih SF priznanja, <strong>Hugo</strong> i <strong>Nebula</strong>.
